This is our sacred rebellion.
A Slow Studio is currently a private artist & activist studio in Kansas City, Missouri.
An update from the studio owner, Vivienne Miles:
This studio has very quickly become my personal refuge while I tend to my healing and repair work. Not only do I spend long days here in that sort of work, I spend long meandering days making art at my studio too. I work alongside 2 other artists. Sometimes we work separately together and sometimes we hold gentle healing space for one another. And other times we collaborate within a medium together.
This studio has become something far beyond any of my plans or dreams. I always wanted it to be a space of healing and connection of love and repair, a space for messy authenticity and messy growth too. I thought this studio was more for others and its purpose was to bring you together here with me, and each other. While I still very much want to share time and space with you, those opportunities will look and feel pretty different.
We are now a private artist and activist studio. We will have “public” gatherings for which we will send personal invites.
We are still 100% a mutual aid.
If you want to get a text about public offerings, let us know. We can see about getting that info to you.
More to come.
Upcoming Public Events
devoted to connection • practicing the sacred art of slowing down • cultivating community • a space for our hope & our art
About the Studio
Less screen time, more time together
A physical space for artists, activists, the healing + healers
If you are expecting this studio to start acting a certain way… prepare to be disappointed.
We are NOT running a business. We are 100% mutual aid.
We are a radical bunch. We cuss. We are moving beyond our nice girl phases, COMPLETELY.
We are a diverse group with strong values and very deep roots. We have a zero tolerance policy for white supremacy culture BS (aka Karen’s bitchass ways). Leave if you feel any kinda way about that. Call us out when you see us commit harm.
There is no hierarchy in our community.
We literally make art, hold healing space for one another and are building a matriarch for our collective futures.
Most would consider us radicals and we don’t shy away from that. Lean in if you’re curious.
We are QUEER
We talk about it, we go there, we say what needs to be said… which is to say, many traditional white folks are gonna be wildly uncomfortable around here.
We are actively divesting from patriarchal systems, as well as decentering men and whiteness.
We are lived-experience folk with a handful of college degrees.
